STAR WARS MAGICAL MUSEUM TOUR

By Chris Gore | October 7, 2001

The “Star Wars Magic of Myth” Tour has been making its way across America. The museum display offers an up close and personal look at many of the costumes, props, models and artwork associated with the current Star Wars Quadrilogy, which will soon be a complete series of six films. The “Myth” Tour has made its way to places like the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. to museums and galleries in San Diego, CA (which is where I saw it), Houston, TX, Toledo, OH, Chicago, IL, Minneapolis, MN to international destinations like Helsinki, London and Australia.
The tour includes placards which explain how the teachings of Joseph Campbell and his books on myth influenced George Lucas in his vision for the space opera. According to the official site, “Visitors to The Magic of Myth can opt to be led through the exhibition by James Earl Jones, the voice of Darth Vader, in an audio tour. The exhibition also includes a 30-minute documentary which includes interviews with George Lucas, actors Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill, sound effects director Ben Burtt, and composer John Williams.” Sure, you could listen to James Earl Jones in his booming, CNN voice talk you through the tour, or you can get it right here, right now, Film Threat-style.
What follows is my photo diary of the tour with pics and personal insights. Read on… Get the whole story in Gore’s photo essay STAR WARS MAGICAL MUSEUM TOUR>>>
