MADE IN GERMANY AT AFI FEST

By Film Threat Staff | October 21, 2002

This year, AFI Fest will present Made in Germany, a program of the best in contemporary German cinema.
The AFI Fest 2002 Made In Germany program showcases 10 features and documentaries. Mostly U.S. premieres, the featured films have garnered a combined number of over 20 international awards, including the two most successful box-office hits in Germany this year, “Nowhere In Africa” and “Manitou’s Shoe.”
Adding an historic element to the program, Made in Germany will present to U.S. audiences Marlene Dietrich’s debut in a femme fatal role in “Three Loves,” from director Curtis Bernhardt. The intertitled silent classic, shot in 1929, will be presented with a special live piano accompaniment and a live-intertitle-dubbing performance.
The Made in Germany showcase debuts on Sunday, Nov.10th with the Gala Film, “Nowhere in Africa.” AFI Fest 2002 runs from November 7th – 17th at the ArcLight in Hollywood.
