The San Diego Film Festival, a five-day celebration of film produced by the San Diego Film Foundation, is set to take place Sept. 17-21 in the historic Gaslamp Quarter. The Festival will feature more than 75 films, showcasing the best in American and International full-length features, documentaries and short films. The event will include Q&A sessions, workshops and panels with celebrities and filmmakers, nightly post-screening parties, a VIP Opening Night Celebration and an exclusive Actor’s Gala and Awards Ceremony.
“We were overwhelmed by the success of last year’s festival and are proud to make this an annual tradition for America’s Finest City,” said SDFF executive director Robin Laatz. “We had tremendous support from the local film community, the media, industry gurus, actors and filmmakers who came from all over the country to share their films and experiences. More than 200 local volunteers donated their time to ensure that everything went off without a hitch.”
The San Diego Film Festival is now accepting entries for the 2003 event. The early deadline is June 1 and the final deadline is July 1. If postmarked by June 1, the entry fees are $35 for features & documentary features and $25 for shorts and documentary shorts. If postmarked between June 2 and July 1, the fees are $45 for features and documentary features, $30 for shorts and documentary shorts.
Films will be selected and judged for awards in the following categories: Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Documentary, Best Short Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Up & Coming Actor, Best Up & Coming Actress, San Diego Filmmaker Award and an Achievement in Acting Award.
