It’s not just for comic geeks anymore. Now, movie geeks will have more film screenings on their hands than they’ll know what to do with as San Diego Comic-Con’s Independent International Film Festival expands to four days, the full length of the convention.
Unlike your normal film festival, this fest (August 1-4) will have no panel of judges and there will be no prizes given out. But that doesn’t mean that there won’t be a shortage of amazing films for convention goers to drool over. The film fest entries encompass the worlds of science fiction, fantasy, comics, animation, and anything else that fits into the pop culture feel of Comic-Con. This year’s slate includes over 70 individual films and presentations, including the complete Star Wars Fan Film Festival previously shown only at the Star Wars: Celebration in Indianapolis in May; it is provided courtesy of Lucasfilm Ltd. and
The San Diego Comic-Con Independent International Film Festival also includes interaction with the actual filmmakers and cast members of the films being shown. Most of the films are scheduled for an extended block of time, and some of the cast and crew behind these films will be on hand to introduce their work and answer questions.
Screenings will take place in Room 1AB.
Visit Comic-Con’s website for the full schedule of screenings.
