By Film Threat Staff | December 24, 2000

Cine Las Americas, which runs from [ April 12th ] through [ April 19th, 2001 ] in lovely Austin, Texas, aims to promote films by and/or about emerging Latino filmmakers. But cross-culturalism is also important to the Festival, so they welcome non-Latino works as well, with a focus on “communities that are not adequately represented within mainstream cinematic discourse.”
To submit to the Festival, be aware of the two deadlines. The early deadline falls on [ February 15th, 2001 ] and carries a $10 entry fee, and the late deadline of [ February 29th, 2001 ] will set you back $20. For more from Cine Las Americas, including news from past events and all submission information, see the [ official site. ]
