On Friday, July 26th, writer/director David O. Russell (“Spanking the Monkey”, Three Kings) will present “The 400 Blows” (LES QUATRE CENTS COUPS, 1959). One of the early and seminal works of the French New Wave, Françoi Truffaut’s masterpiece has influenced filmmakers to this day, including Martin Scorsese and Steven Soderberg. A film famed for its naturalism and inventive camera work, “The 400 Blows” chronicles the life and suffering of a 14 year-old Parisian boy and his startling observations of the world around him.
The screening of “The 400 Blows” is a part of The American Film Institute’s and the Skirball Cultural Center’s monthly series of screenings and conversations with acclaimed filmmakers – CINEMA’S LEGACY: HOW GREAT FILMMAKERS INSPIRE GREAT FILMMAKERS.
