Music and video artist Etop takes us on a pensive walk on a wet city street just before dawn in short film and musical art piece The Quiet Between Us. The waves of sound are meditative, and reflect the peaceful moment somewhere between the end of the night and the start of the day. This film opens as the first part of a trilogy of short films accompanied by and inseparable from the soundscape attached. The woman walking on the street is perfectly comfortable where she is, confident and quiet. She is not lingering nor rushing. She looks to be in perfect harmony with the cityscape. The cinematography is crisp and pops with color as the sun comes up.
“Take it in and enjoy the silence.”
There is no dialogue and no plot. What a viewer brings to the work will inform their experience of it. An in-depth analysis of the film would say more about the reviewer than it would the piece, and would take longer to read than the film itself runs. This would not be in the spirit of the experience.
