For those of us who are fans of casinos, we definitely have our fair share of amazing movies to choose from. There is a near-endless roster of incredible films based around this timeless hobby, and if you are in the mood to just relax instead of heading to the casino yourself, then you will be more than accommodated.
In this article, we will be taking a look at a few of the best casino movies ever made, as well as going through each and giving you a brief description to see if any of them take your fancy.
Rounders
Rounders is perhaps the quintessential casino movie, with it being the first film in this category that most people have seen. Moreover, when you factor in its impressive cast (we are talking about you Matt Damon), it also happens to be one of the biggest-budget gambling movies out there.
Whilst Rounders may not have been the most well-received movie of all time (just take a look at any professional rounders review), it definitely played a part in making casinos a viable topic for movies.
If you are just looking for a quirky movie that doesn’t take itself all too seriously, then Rounders would be a great choice, and there is no doubt that it will at least give you a few laughs.
High Roller: The Stu Ungar Story
For Those of you that want a true-to-life accurate portrayal of what it is like to be one of the top one percent in the casino scene, then High Roller: The Stu Ungar Story will be a perfect match for you.
This movie follows the story of Stu Ungar, a professional all-around casino player that employed various different jackpot strategies and poker methods to win millions of dollars, as well as also showing some of the twists and turns his journey took him on.
Without spoiling too much, Stu Ungar’s tale is incredibly interesting, and it is definitely worth giving it a watch.
Casino
When it comes to amazing casino movies, there are few that are able to stand up to the aptly-named Casino. This one strays from the usual casino movies you have come to expect, with it instead choosing to focus on the mob’s involvement with the scene to its fullest extent.
Once again, it’s hard to go into the details without revealing too much, but if you are looking for an interesting sneak peek as to what it was like to be in the casino scene before major corporations got involved, Casino will be right down your alley.
So, what do you think of the entries on our list? Are there any more movies you can think of that should be added? If so, do not worry. Movies and films are highly subjective, and just because we think the three entries we listed are the best does not mean they will be the best for you.
Despite this, there is no doubt that the three we chose to go with are incredible movies, and if you have a free evening spare, you would do well to give them a try. Have fun.
