Every other year I’m drawn to watching the Olympics, and from a very early age, I knew with 100% certainty, I would never compete in anything ever. So, having a healthy expectation of my Olympic dream, I couldn’t help but watch and wonder how much fun it would be to not only compete, but that hang out with fellow athletes from around the world.
With camera in tow, director Jeremy Teicher, athlete/actor/writer Alexi Pappas, and comedian/actor Nick Kroll shot the first film ever to be shot at Olympic Village and to be specific, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Olympic Dreams is the result.
“The bond between Penelope and Ezra starts professional, before it moves to playful, and then takes a serious turn towards romance.”
The story itself is pretty simple. Alexi Pappas plays Penelope, a shy, first time Olympian competing in Cross-Country skiing. Nick Kroll is Ezra, a dentist volunteering at Olympic Village for a much-needed break in his professional and personal life.
The Olympics has pushed both Penelope and Ezra out of their comfort zones. Though Penelope has trained most of her life for this moment, she finds it challenging to make connections and build friendships. Ezra, on the other hand, finds discontent in his everyday life, though he never realized it until his time at the Olympic Village. Now both of them are pushed to make some radical and risky changes. The bond between Penelope and Ezra starts professional, before it moves to playful, and then takes a serious turn towards romance.
"…shot like a Christopher Guest movie."
