UK STUDENT FILM NEEDS YOU!

By Film Threat Staff | September 29, 2000

If you’ve got some filmmaking advice, acting chops, or even an overnight bed or two to loan to a few ambitious, and really friendly, London students, then read on:
[ Hi, My name is Owen Griffiths. I represent a group of final year Undergraduate Students (BA in Media and Communication) at the University of Greenwich in London. There are 5 of us, and we are currently preparing our final year practical project. This requires us to produce a short film of up to 10 minutes in length, for assessment.
It is our intention to produce a short film set in New York (Manhattan), based upon the Frank Sinatra song “New York, New York” (Start Spreading the News). We intend to have each line spoken by a character associated through stereotype (i.e. from the media – film) with New York, e.g. Yellow Taxi Driver, Hard-nose Policeman, Hooker in Time Square, Hippie/Student in Greenwich Village etc.
Though we are still planning the storyboard, we require any useful pointers or information that could assist us with our 1-week visit at the end of October/start of November. This could include help with accommodation, choosing location and characters.
Above all else we would like to ask for assistance in finding actors to play these roles. If you have any budding young talent (or old since the characters need to be realistic) we would love to work with them. Or, if you could put us in touch with any drama/acting societies or Off-Broadway Theatre companies.
We would be overjoyed if you could assist us in any way, or even if you have any words of advice. In turn we would be delighted to return the favour if you ever wished to repeat this in London.
Thanks, ^ Owen Griffiths ]
