THIS AWARDS SHOW IS TOTALLY GAY!

By Film Threat Staff | November 14, 2002

Overlooked by the “Santa Clause 2” watching mainstream, gay themed films are getting their own awards show, the 2003 Glitter Awards, in Hollywood at the Gay & Lesbian Center Village Theater at Ed Gould Plaza on Friday, February 7th, 2003 at 7:30 pm.
The event will be an evening to celebrate the theatres, film festivals, distributors, filmmakers, financiers and stars who have contributed in bringing gay film to audiences worldwide. Presenters of the Awards will be celebrities and filmmakers from the independent film community. A few presenters for the 2003 Glitter Awards include filmmaker Jaime Babbit (But I’m a Cheerleader), Steve Guttenberg (“PS. Your Cat is Dead”), and more…
Despite the Glitter Awards’ good intentions, we’re afraid that the show may be protested merely for the presence of Steve Guttenberg.
For 2003, two awards have been added – the Glitter Award- Best Lesbian Theme Feature voted by the U.S. & International Gay Film Festival and Glitter Award- Best Lesbian Theme Feature voted by the U.S. and International Gay Press.
Winners will be awarded the GLITTER AWARD. “The name glitter was chosen because we believe that all of these films, one way or another, have had an impact on peoples lives and deserve an opportunity to shine,” says Jorge Ameer, Executive Director of the awards show.
Last year, Hedwig and the Angry Inch was granted the Glitter Award for Best Film Voted by U.S/International Gay Film Festivals and Gay Press.
Admission to the award show is complimentary to all gay film festival directors and programmers – for reservations call (323) 876-0975.
General admission tickets are available online at TicketWeb.
