By Film Threat Staff | March 7, 2003

The 5th Anniversary Hollywood Black Film Festival celebrates the artistic expression of 73 filmmakers during the 2003 presentation taking place in Hollywood, California March 25 – 30. This year’s presentation will be hosted at the newly renovated and world-renowned Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
“Over the past five years we have experienced consistent growth in the number of competition submissions, as well as unparallel support from the Hollywood community,” said Kersey-Henley, HBFF Founder and Executive Director. “HBFF has evolved into one of the premier venues and events showcasing the works of talented Black filmmakers and serves as one of the best forums for introducing these works and professionals to Hollywood decision-makers.”
Films screening in the competitive categories represent 38 World Premieres, 13 West Coast Premieres, six Los Angeles Premieres and four U.S. Premieres. “HBFF 2003 rings in our fifth year of hosting this competition that to date has received noted accolades and high marks from industry professionals and the media at large,” said Programming Director Jacqueline Blaylock. “In just five short years we have introduced the public to more than 300 film and video projects showcasing the some of the most spectacular images and stories created by filmmakers of color.”
