The FanTasia 2009 Festival wants YOUR Film Image

I got my start here on Film Threat reviewing FanTasia. 2009 marks the fifth anniversary of my going to the festival and the 13th anniverary of the festival itself. So it’s with great fondness and affection for the people involved that I throw out a call to filmmakers out there. If you have a movie and want it seen by people who aren’t intimidated by art or by difficult subject matter, this is your best shot.

Since its inception in 1996, FanTasia has been an event hell-bent on showcasing the most exciting, innovative and individualistic examples of contemporary international genre cinema, with an emphasis on unveiling films very rarely seen in North America

We’re currently on the lookout for features and shorts to showcase at this summer’s event. What exactly are we looking for? While predominantly a fantasy/action/horror festival, Fantasia has always embraced films whose sheer individuality puts them in a genre of their own. If you’re not sure whether your film is right for us, consider that we’ve showcased everything from captivating dramas, eccentric comedies, provocative documentaries, mind-blowing experimental works, musicals, even atypical children’s films. In other words, set our minds’ eyes on fire and we’ll do everything possible to get your film seen. Feel free to browse our 2008 website for a better understanding of our programming tastes.

Any work produced in the past 18 months is eligible for both our official jury competition and our Public’s Prize.

Our entry fees are low, with no charges at all for Quebec productions of any length – and we encourage filmmakers and companies of all backgrounds, interests and obsessions to submit their work.
