TEXAS FILM FESTIVAL AWARD WINNERS

By Film Threat Staff | March 4, 2001

The 8th Annual Texas Film Festival recently concluded its run on the campus of Texas A&M University. This is an unusual festival, not only because it’s held deep in the heart of Aggie-land, but also because it’s an entirely student-run affair, operated under the auspices of the university’s Memorial Student Center Film Society. Only recently a competitive event, the Texas Film Festival announces the following award winners, (check Film Threat in the days ahead for reviews from the Texas Film Festival). Animator Don Hertzfeldt presented a program of his cartoons and both shocked and amused the crowd. We’re not surprised Don’s brand of twisted animation brought home an award for “Best Short.” Here are the winners: ^ Best Feature: BREATHING HARD, dir. Eric Neal Young ^ Best Documentary: UNIVERSITY, INC., dir. Kyle Henry ^ Best Short Film: REJECTED, dir. Don Hertzfeldt
