SUPERSTAR

By Chris Gore | October 11, 1999

Following in the tradition of “It’s Pat”, “A Night at the Roxbury” and “Coneheads” comes yet another crappy SNL film. Based on the annoying and unfunny Saturday Night Live sketch starring Molly Shannon as a clumsy Catholic school girl, the movie version takes the sketch further. The entire story revolves around Mary Katherine Gallagher’s quest to kiss a boy. This is not a joke.
Unfortunately, I am one of the pathetic souls who is usually home on a Saturday Night, and I’ve seen this sketch numerous times on SNL — it isn’t funny at five minutes, at 90 minutes it’s unbearable.
