SUNDANCE BRINGS REEL STUDIO

By Film Threat Staff | January 20, 2003

The Sundance Film Festival presents REEL STUDIO: Young Filmmakers Program, formerly know as Gen-Y Studio. Reel Studio, a private program by invitation only, meets Saturday, January 18 through Wednesday, January 22 from 5:30-9:00 p.m. at the Park City Library Center (1255 Park Ave. Room 205 and 207).
Reel Studio gives young filmmakers the opportunity to explore innovative, independent films, share ideas, and learn about new technology. Students representing high schools and media arts organizations from all over North America come together and meet with Festival filmmakers to discuss the art of film. Reel Studio encourages young filmmakers to realize the power of film as a medium for artistic and self-_expression. During the day, participating groups will attend select Festival film screenings and take part in workshops on the process of filmmaking, conducted by past Sundance Film Festival and Sundance Institute Feature Film Lab alumni. Each evening during the Studio Program, participants meet with current Festival filmmakers for Q&A sessions and engage in small group discussions to explore a variety of ideas and themes relevant to young filmmakers.
