STARZ DENVER INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL IN OCTOBER

The 25th Starz Denver International Film Festival will take place at the Starz FilmCenter at the Tivoli on the Auraria Campus, October 10-20. The festival will showcase 150 films from around the world with more than 75 directors, actors and filmmakers expected to participate in this silver anniversary edition. Opening the festival will be Warner Brother’s “White Oleander” based on the best-selling novel by Janet Fitch who will appear in-person along with some of the cast members and closing the festival will be Miramax’s much awaited, “Frida” with director Julie Taymor in-person.
This year’s festival will include a Salute to Chinese Cinema including a martial arts sidebar with three recently restored films from the Shaw Library, the presentation of the John Cassavetes Award for achievement in American independent filmmaking, the Mayor’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the Krystof Kieslowski award for Best European Film and the Starz People’s Choice Award (feature-length fiction film and documentary categories) and DIFF’s 25 Greatest Hits, a program on the final day of the festival that will feature screenings of audience and staff favorites from our first 25 years.
