  1. l334 notes that when you place your mouse over the fish and horse/donkey/pony (?), you see thought bubbles of oven mitts, and swiss cheese… the significance of such is still a mystery. Signs or just random gags to throw us off the scent? Great find.As of this moment, nothing really comes to mind. Oven mitts. Perhaps heat, cover? And for cheese, triangular, holes. Who knows? Your guess is just as good as mine. At this moment, may still be in development, but we’re on to something here…
  2. A pink squid floats in the background quite conspicuously. Lending more to the Cthulhu rumors, perhaps?
  3. Anyone aware of the Asian language on the website? You’d help if we can get a translation.
  4. Supposedly the strong theory for 1-18-08 website is that the first picture of the two women is actually a splicing of the same woman, one during the party, the same one during the attacks. Evidence has spread with folks combining the angles. The theory is still inconclusive, as the features and bone structure is quite different. But anything is possible.
  5. Supposedly the site runner is named Henry Kelvin, a nod to “Lost,” since two characters are named Henry and Kelvin, apparently. Confusion prevails.
  6. Mike Ferraro led me to many sources with fantastic theories. One of which is a number in the site information that leads to this place, where it simply tells of flight coordinates, and weather conditions. At the moment, it’s unsure if it’s a red herring, a wrong path, or one of the hidden websites.
  7. Ethan Haas? Another shocking conclusion to a riddle…?
Note: Someone noted this Wiki entry which was edited July 5th:
“Ethan Haas was in love with his fiancée, Joanne Richman (Kasey Wilson), and planned the ultimate surprise party: a reunion with their third grade classmates to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the day they met. However, Joanne felt he was smothering her and left. He is a pediatrician with a golden retriever, like his ex-fiancée. He is also known as something of a prophet predicting the coming end times when Cthulu will again walk the earth. He met a woman named Sue who mistook Ethan for a guy named Dan (Sue and Dan were going on a blind date).”
  8. Further analysis has possibly revealed a demonic face in between the heads of the two women on 1-18-08. Close up on flash and you may make something out. Or you may not… I see something.

More theories forthcoming…

MORE finds (thanks to Chainsaw):

Investigation will continue with these sites in the coming hours. I must end this for a while before I’m caught.

  1. Paul says:

For some reason I think it’s a giant robot. 1, when the guy runs by in the trailer he yells “It’s alive!” if it’s a living crature (dinosaur, cthulhu, godzilla, whatever), why would the man say that it was alive? Two, the end credits to the trailer are all pixely like a computer rendered it or something. And three, (this not as big as the others), but it’s Bad Robot productions, too. Just my thoughts…

  2. Mike says:

On the 1-18-08 website, the picture of a guy having a drink forced down his throat, there is a person on the right side of the frame that (to me) doesn’t quite look like he belongs, the color pallette seems wrong and he (she?) looking in the camera with a rather menacing look on it’s face. I can’t shake the feeling that this part of the image does not belong in the same context as the rest of the picture, much the way the little devil’s face appears to show up between the 2 faces on the other picture. Could this be something?

Side note: even if the similarities between Ethan Hass and the Cloverfield investigation prooves to be a red herring, the puzzles on the site are marginally entertaining. However, doesn’t Van mention something along the lines of a rebellion in the videos, and stuff along the lines of he knows the truth and what not? Could JJ be stringing Harry along as part of the “Establishment” and proclaiming the Ethan Haas has nothing to do with Cloverfield? There is a definite Us vs. Them feeling to the website, talking about truth and whatnot. I just think it is too early to write off Ethan Haas just yet. Maybe on Aug. 1 thousands of people will get an e-mail saying “HAHAHA you suck, you sheep!” or they will get a new piece of the puzzle.

  3. poisoncandy says:

Ethan Haas was a character on ” The Class” and so was one of the actors who will be in the Abrams project, Lizzy Caplan….. weird…..

  4. Felix says:

Certain folks have complained that Abrams “jerked their chain” and may be doing so with this movie which many Lost fans assume is a tie in, or spin off.

I hope in the end it’s not some prank where it turns out to be a remake of Attack of the 50 ft. Woman.

  5. Mark says:

Why are LOST fans assumed to be disgruntled? And what does that have to do a JJ Abrams movie when LOST is 3 years from being over and may or may not end with a movie?

  6. Felix says:

The jury is still out on Ethan Haas.

Abrams has done a lot of things that seem to be intent on throwing people off the track.

Right now it’s a safe bet that Ethan Haas is a red herring, but it’s possible it’s something else altogether.

  7. Felix says:

    Very well aware.

  8. EthanH says:

Might want to check that, JJ Abrams claims that the Ethan Hass stuff is not his doing, and only one site at the time of that conversation had been found

  9. Mike says:

That wiki entry about Ethan Haas and his reunion for his fiance is the premise for the recently cancelled CBS show ‘The Class’. The main character is Ethan Haas.

  10. mark roberts says:

Maybe you have not heard, but Ethan Hass has nothing to do with 1-18-08. Abrahms himself confirmed this

  11. Felix says:

    That’s something! Good job Shell.

  12. Shell says:

I googled “blue oven mitt” and the company that makes one is called Orka. Orka…Orca…killer whale??

I also just search for “Orka” and turns out that it was a Marvel villan that was 24 feet tall and can summon killer whales. WTF? Probably nothing, but who knows? The history does mention whales in it…
