Slamdance is expanding its presence in Europe with a new Film Festival in Poland. Following the success of last year’s Slamdance On The Road event in Wrocklaw, organizer’s in Poland and the US are establishing an annual Festival highlighting local filmmaking talent. Five Polish features and eleven short films will take part in Festival competition from November 21-23 in conjunction with an out of competition and special program that includes recent animation works from Russia and Benjamin Christensen’s 1922 classic “Czarownice” accompanied by live electronic music.
The new Polish Festival is dedicated to emerging filmmakers who have made films on limited budgets and follows the direction of Slamdance’s Festival competition in the United States. The winning feature and short films will form part of Slamdance’s Best Of screenings in Los Angeles and New York this coming February and March.
