SLAMDANCE CLASS OF 2003

By Eric Campos | December 11, 2002

Just a little more than a week ago, Sundance announced their line-up of films for this year’s festival through their website. That’s fine and all, but we had more fun discovering the official line-up of films for this year’s Slamdance schedule as an entire event was erected around the announcement, taking place at the hipper-than-thou hotel/boozeteria, The Standard in Los Angeles last night, December 9th. The party took place on the rooftop of The Standard, where David Alan Grier, one of this year’s Slamdance jurors, announced the festival line-up.
“The Slamdance 2003 Film Festival has invited 16 feature films, from a record 2800 submissions, to compete at our ninth annual festival,” Gianna Chachere, Slamdance Director, announced today. Eleven of the Competition Features screening this year are fictional narratives and four are documentaries. In addition to the fifteen feature length films, nine of which are premieres, Slamdance will also screen twelve short films in competition.
Chris Gore and I were there, armed with over-priced beers and digital cameras to document the festivities and bring to you the schedule of films to be screened at Slamdance in Park City, January 18 – 25.
