SHANNON YOUNG’S RAZOR EATING ACT

By Heidi Martinuzzi | September 3, 2004

Shannon Young’s Razor Eaters is a film to be reckoned with. Not only brutal and violent, it is subject to a superb script and some of the most amazing acting ever seen in an independent film. Shannon Young, Australia’s new up and comer in the indie film scene, shares his insight into making a successful and provocative independent film at a time when the market is flooded with amateur and embarrassing backyard fan films.

“Razor Eaters” was so shocking to the Australian public and found so offensive by the Melbourne police department upon its initial release in Australia, that the Melbourne police department denounced it as “Extremely Violent” and “Obscene”. Despite this condemnation, the extra press only helped fuel the fires for Razor Eaters. Now Shannon Young’s film has hit the festival circuit in the United States. After its amazing response at the Fearless Tales Film Festival in Sacramento this March, Shannon Young is aware of the new possibilities for the future of his film.
