The Ozark Foothills FilmFest took place this year on April 10-14, in the north central Arkansas community of Batesville, and the organizers are already gearing up for their 2003 fest. The new festival promises to include an electrifying series of films and other activities focusing on the earth and the ways we interact with it, called “Earth Notes: Planetary Excursions on Film”. Screenings of the films in this special series will take place at Lyon College and the Old Independence Regional Museum. The 2003 Ozark Foothills FilmFest is set to run from March 28th – April 6th.
But for those who just can’t wait for some good Arkansas film, the Ozark Foothills FilmFest will host pioneering independent filmmaker Les Blank at four screenings and appearances in Batesville and Newport, Arkansas. Les Blank is a prize-winning independent filmmaker, creator of a 40+ year body of work that led Time Magazine critic Jay Cocks to write, “I can’t believe that anyone interested in movies or America. . .could watch Blank’s work without feeling they’d been granted a casual, soft-spoken revelation.”
