SAN DIEGO HANDS OUT AWARDS

The San Diego Film Festival, a five-day, competitive event
that showcased more than 65 domestic and international films, has announced the winners for the 2003 fest. Of the nearly 1000 films submitted, 65 made the cut; 13 were honored with awards.
A special honor was bestowed on veteran actor Stacy “Some a*****e just pissed on my leg!” Keach, as he accepted the Lifetime Achievement in Acting Award at the festival’s Actor’s Ball Saturday, Sept. 20.
Awards:
Lifetime Achievement Award: Stacy Keach
Spirit Horse Best Feature Film Award: “I am David”
Best Director Award: Antony Vidmer for Stuey
Best Screenplay Award: Rodney Conover for “Bachelorman”
Best Documentary Award: Rick McKay for “Broadway: The Golden Age”
Best Short Film Award: “Gretchen Brettschneider Skirts Thirty”
Best Actor Award: Alan Young for “Em & Me”
Best Actress Award: Francoise Surel for “The Kiss”
Most Promising Actor Award: Ben Tibber for “I am David”
San Diego Feature Film Award: “Mother’s & Daughters”
San Diego Filmmaker Award: Sam Chen for “Eternal Gaze”
Audience Award for Best Documentary: “Broadway: The Golden Age”
Audience Award for Best Feature: “Saints and Soldiers”
Governor’s Award: Andy Friedenberg with San Diego Cinema Society
