SAN DIEGO ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES SIXTH ANNUAL AWARD WINNERS

By Film Threat Staff | October 4, 2005

The Sixth Annual San Diego Film Festival continues through the end of the week, but their gala awards dinner already went down on Friday, September 30th, right at the head of the festival. Pretty good idea to get the awards business out of the way, taking the edge off so everyone can hang out and enjoy the festival. And those awards went to:
Best Dramatic Narrative – Michael Kang’s THE MOTEL
SDAFF’s Visionary Award – Alice Wu, writer and director of SAVING FACE
SDAFF’s Lifetime Achievement – Joan Chen, star of SAVING FACE
Best Feature Documentary – Hosup Lee’s AND THEREAFTER
SDAFF’s Grand Jury Prize – Joe Turner Lin’s short film SEIBUTSU (STILL: LIFE)
Best Animation – Tak Hoon Kim’s PUBLIC BATH
Best Experimental – 5 X 90: THE WAKE
Best Music Video – PSYCHOKINETICS – THE VAULT
Best Dramatic Short Narrative – SUMMER OF THE SERPENT
Best Short Documentary – DASTAAR: DEFENDING SIKH IDENTITY
Michelob Light Short Flicks Competition Winner – Roman Cortez’s CASTING COUCH

And there are the awards. Stay tuned for festival coverage to find out what REALLY happened in San Diego this year. And maybe…just maybe…someone’s gonna cry…
