"POPE DREAMS" IS A WINNER!

By Admin | June 21, 2006

POPE DREAMS took home the Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature Film at the Atlanta Film Festival. POPE DREAMS regarded as an “Indie Gem”, premiered at the Atlanta Film Festival June 15th and June 17th, 2006. The film has been screening across the country at various film festivals and the response it is receiving has been very positive.

In the vein of Good Will Hunting and Garden State, POPE DREAMS is a sweet coming of age tale about a young man at a crossroads in life. Filled with heart, music, life and loss.

Andy Venable (Phillip Vaden) is a directionless, 19 year old boy who works for his hard-case father (Stephen Tobolowsky) in a warehouse during the day and plays drums in a heavy metal band at night. His only clear goal at the moment is to get his terminally ill mother (Julie Hagerty), a devout Catholic, to the Vatican for a meeting with the Pope before she dies. While he’s busy with that, he falls for a girl who’s totally out of his league and gets discovered by two Broadway producers for a musical talent that just might be his true calling.

Directed by Patrick Hogan, the film stars Julie Hagerty (“Lost in America,” “What About Bob”), Stephen Tobolowsky (“Groundhog Day,” “Memento”) and Phillip Vaden.

POPE DREAMS is Patrick Hogan’s feature film directorial debut. He received his MFA from USC film school and his thesis film, “The Business Card,” is an award-winning short that has the distinction of being the first USC film ever sold to an airline for in-flight entertainment.

Along with his unique vision and sublime writing that captures characters filled with incomparable heart, Patrick has earned four Emmy nominations and five Golden Rell nominations, as well as two Golden Reel Awards for his work as a sound editor on HBO’s “Six Feet Under” and FOX’s “Family guy.”
