NUART TO SCREEN “TROLL 2” WITH CAST AND FILMMAKERS IN ATTENDANCE

By Film Threat Staff | August 2, 2007

The Landmark Theatres Nuart Theatre presents a special one night only, midnight screening of the cult classic “Troll 2,” with members of cast and the filmmakers in person for a Q&A. The screening is part of the Nuart Theatre’s continuing midnight movie series, which showcases the best in cult classics and modern favorites. The screening will take place midnight Friday, August 10, 2007 at the world famous Nuart Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

“Troll 2” is widely considered to be one of the best bad movies ever made, a film so inept and unintentionally hilarious, that fans quickly embraced it as camp. With filmmaking that makes Ed Wood look like Orson Welles, “Troll 2” reigned for years as the #1 lowest-rated movie on imdb.com. It recently screened to sold-out audiences in Austin and New York.

Released in 1990, “Troll 2” has nothing to do with the original “Troll.” In fact, there isn’t a single troll in it. Instead, a traveling family is menaced in the town of NILBOG by vegetarian goblins (!) that turn their victims into plants and devour them. With endless quotable one-liners, terrible acting, plot non sequiturs, homemade special effects, and 80s synth music, “Troll 2” epitomizes the type of movie to experience in a theatre with an enthusiastic crowd.

Guests at this special screening will be actors Michael Stephenson (Joshua), George Hardy (Michael Waits), Jason Steadman (Drew), and Darren Ewing (Arnold). A very special addition will be the film’s director/co-writer Claudio Fragasso, and co-writer Rossella Drudi, coming all the way from Italy. All will be present to answer questions about the production of the worst movie ever made. Lead Actor Michael Stephenson will also be compiling footage from the event for his documentary on the film’s cult following, BEST WORST MOVIE.
