“NINE GOOD TEETH” SCREENS AT THE EGYPTIAN IN LOS ANGELES

By Film Threat Staff | June 23, 2003

Alex Halpern will be having the Los Angeles premiere of his award-winning doc, “Nine Good Teeth,” at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, Thursday, June 26th at 7:30PM.
Feisty, headstrong and still cooking, 103-year-old Brooklyn-born, Italian-American matriarch Mary Mirabito (“Nana”) dispenses homespun wisdom and divulges family secrets of rivalries, infidelity, murder and late night visits from Jack Kerouac in “Nine Good Teeth,” an irreverent documentary by Mary¹s grandson, filmmaker Alex Halpern. Described as a “pistol”, “a tiger” and the “Rock of Gibraltar”, Mary is a formidable screen presence, the sort of blustery grand dame embodied by Italian screen queen Anna Magnani. “Nine Good Teeth”¹s spirited journey–at times painful and often hilarious‹celebrates life, love and family in all its contradictions.
