NANTUCKET HONORS “CROUCHING TIGER” WRITER

By Film Threat Staff | April 2, 2002

Screenwriter James Schamus, a 2000 Oscar nominee for Best Adapted Screenplay for “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” will receive NBC’s Screenwriter Tribute at this year’s Nantucket Film Festival (NFF). The 7th-annual NFF will take place from June 20th-23rd, 2002.
Schamus won a Best Screenplay award at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival for “The Ice Storm.” He’s also the scribe behind the screenplays for “The Wedding Banquet” and “Eat Drink Man Woman,” both of which were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Schamus is now hard at work on the screenplay for “The Hulk,” which will be directed by Ang Lee.
The NFF screens domestic and international features, world premieres, shorts, docs and videos from every genre, all selected with an eye towards storytelling. Q & A’s with the writers and filmmakers follow each screening. For more on the event, visit the Nantucket Film Festival site.
