In his drab, black-and-white world, Mr. Slowburn harbors a desire to get completely s**t-faced. And doesn’t any hard-working American citizen deserve that right? It’s the right to hang out with Bud, Miller, Sam Adams, and Jack Daniels that really counts. It could work out that way for the martini-dreaming Slowburn if the traffic wasn’t so damn heavy. In this smoothly animated short, Slowburn waits…and waits…and waits. He has bank slips in his pocket necessary to take money out of his account, slap it on the counter of his local bar and say, “Gimme one of those martinis, or two, or three, or six.”
4:35 p.m. rolls along, then comes 4:45, 4:50, and the traffic still isn’t letting up. Slowburn’s getting desperate here and it’s his attempt at trying to get the money that mirrors a lot of society’s ills in life, mainly that of bad traffic, frustration after a day’s work, and so much else. The only color that comes into Slowburn’s world is when he’s just really had it. We can definitely relate.
