MADCAT FILM FEST

By Film Threat Staff | August 31, 2000

The Fourth Annual MadCat Film Festival, which will screen programs at several theaters in the Bay Area on September 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th, follows in the formidable paw-prints of last year’s sold-out fest with yet another diverse offering of women’s films from around the globe. MadCat commits itself “to showcasing women film and videomakers who challenge the use of sound and image and explore notions of visual story telling.”
The theme of “World Travelers of the Mind,” one group of MadCat shorts, is the connection between survivors and generational communication. It features the Student Academy Award-winning piece “Happy are the Happy” and its funny take on less-than-funny lives. Also screening is Sungyeon Jones’ “Grandma”: an experimental animated short with a look at enduring World War II.
