KEVIN SMITH GIVES ACADEMY LECTURE

By Film Threat Staff | November 24, 2000

Kevin Smith hardly needs an introduction, at least not for any Film Threat reader worth their pants. Smith will be giving the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Marvin Borowsky Lecture on Screenwriting on [ Thursday, December 7th ] at [ 8 PM ] .
The lecture series allows famous screenwriters the chance to share the perils and pleasures of the job with an audience, and this stint should pose no problem for raconteur Smith who, aside from being a very successful writer, is also an executive producer (“Good Will Hunting”) and a comic book fiend, which is always a good thing. But will there be dick jokes? The lecture will be held at the Academy’s [ Samuel Goldwyn Theater ] .
Though the whole deal sounds posh, fear not. Non-Academy plebians can get in for a mere [ $5 ] and members and nerds with student I.D. go for a cool [ $3 ] . For tickets, stop by the Academy headquarters at [ 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills ] . Or, call them at [ (310) 247-3600 ] .
