JAMBOR GOES AROUND THE BENDFILM

By Film Threat Staff | February 7, 2007

Erik Jambor, the co-founder and former director of the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival / Alabama Moving Image Association (AMIA), has accepted a position as executive director of BendFilm in Bend, Oregon.

Jambor recently resigned from Sidewalk/AMIA to pursue other opportunities and was immediately attracted by the BendFilm vision. Currently in their 4th year, BendFilm is an annual celebration of independent cinema, which focuses on connecting filmmakers and the audience through film screenings and special programs, including lectures and education.

“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to help catapult BendFilm to the next level,” Jambor said. “Their values and objectives are exactly in line with my own and I could tell from all of our initial meetings that this where I belonged. It’s an incredible opportunity and I can’t wait to bring my experiences with Sidewalk to the supportive community of Bend.”

Jambor begins his employment with BendFilm on February 15, with March 1 as his first day in the office.

“BendFilm could not be more pleased to have found Erik.” Stephen Archer, president of the BendFilm board of directors, said. “He values the connection between the audience and the film and the filmmaker. BendFilm has made its reputation by doing exactly that. It is a great fit for us.”

BendFilm is scheduled to take place October 11-14, 2007.
