"HANNIBAL" STALKS THE WEB

By Film Threat Staff | November 14, 2000

So Julianne Moore is no Jodie Foster, and Ridley Scott has made some decidedly crappy movies (“White Squall” anyone?) but that doesn’t mean that the anticipation is any less huge for “Hannibal,” the latest installment in the Thomas Harris storyline; this go-round, with a screenplay that enlists David Mamet’s pen. And, of course, there’s the delightful prospect of the Hopkins/Oldman web of villainy…
To satiate the public’s hunger for fresh meat, er, information, Universal has launched [ the official “Hannibal” site ] and it’s a trippy ride. The Flash intro alone, black and white and scratchy, is enough to stand many of your little hairs on end. In addition, the site houses release dates, an exclusive interview with star Hopkins, and…the trailer. Take a look, but be warned: much creepiness lies ahead.
