GORE PANELS AT SAN DIEGO FILM FESTIVAL

By Film Threat Staff | September 5, 2002

Usually when Film Threat is in San Diego, we’re busy being nerds at the Comic-Con, but the San Diego Film Festival is getting ready to roll out and our own Chris Gore will be there to teach independent filmmakers how to avoid the many pitfalls on their road to glory.
Running from September 18-22, the San Diego Film Festival will feature over 70 screenings and an impressive line-up of workshops and panel discussions featuring varied industry gurus and acclaimed filmmakers.
“The experts that we have lined up for this years’ panels and workshops are incredible mentors,” said Robin Laatz, executive director for the San Diego Film Festival. “Bringing Hollywood’s top talent to San Diego to offer their expertise and invaluable feedback provides a great opportunity for those interested in a career in acting or filmmaking…right in their own backyard.”
All workshops and panels will be free of charge, open to the public and include a lesson on cinemtography from Emmy Award-winning cinematographer Thomas Del Ruth (The Breakfast Club, “Stand By Me”) and a screenplay writing workshop led by Lisa Alden, former vice president for Linda Obst Productions and a private coach as well as an instructor at a national screenwriting academy in Los Angeles.
Chris Gore will moderate “The 10 Stupid Things Filmmakers do to Mess up Their Movies” panel, featuring Pete Jones (director of Project Greenlight’s Stolen Summer), Skip Press (author of Writer’s Guide to Hollywood Producers), Jude Eberhardt (director/producer “Love Always”) and Bo Zenga – Hollywood’s “Pitch King.”
Gore will also moderate the “Actors on Acting” panel, which will include Joey Lauren Adams (Chasing Amy, Big Daddy), Dee Wallace Stone (“Cujo”, E.T.) and Erin Gray (“Buck Rogers”, “Silver Spoons”).
