The Philadelphia Film Society has announced preliminary plans for the 2005 Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. The Festival will run July 7-19 in three venues along Broad Street’s Avenue of the Arts: the Prince Music Theater, the Wilma Theater and the Gershman Y.
OPENING NIGHT: The Festival will begin on Thursday, July 7, at the Prince Music Theater with the world premiere of THIRD MAN OUT, from the acclaimed “Donald Strachey” series of murder mystery novels by Richard Stevenson. Chad Allen (“Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”) stars as Strachey, an out private investigator living in Albany (NY). Allen will attend the premiere with the film’s director, Ron Oliver. Following the Screening will be the Opening Night Gala at the University of the Arts Solmssen Court.
CLOSING NIGHT: The Festival will officially close Monday, July 18, at the Prince with the Philadelphia premiere of THE DYING GAUL, the directorial debut of writer Craig Lucas (LONGTIME COMPANION, PRELUDE TO A KISS). The drama stars Patricia Clarkson, Campbell Scott and Peter Sarsgaard. The Closing Night Party will be held at the Twenty21 restaurant.
