One thing is for sure, at the end of this film, I was utterly dumbfounded. “Five More Minutes” is the story of… something. From what I gathered, it’s the recreation by its two creators of their mom. They both re-enact situations they wish they’d had with their mom who died, and the title “Five More Minutes” represents how desperate they are to cling to these pretend situations. Such would be basically a meaningful short, were it not so terrible. The two women here get naked, get in to a tub together, rub soap on one another, and play, and then there’s the climax which oddly enough had our main star drinking a bottle of wine. I just couldn’t understand it all, and worst of all, none of it made a lick of sense. The direction is hackneyed with often shaky camera work, and incoherent dialogue that really didn’t bring me in to the mindset of the situation, while the climax ends less on a question mark and more on a head scratch. There’s a story in this film somewhere, and a heartfelt one at that, I just couldn’t find it.
