The 2013 SXSW Film Festival, running March 8-16, 2013, has announced the first batch of confirmed panels, workshops and Digital Domain sessions for the Film Conference, along with the introduction of two new Conference tracks, Startup Alley and the Come & Capture Film Factory. From the official press release:

Now in its 20th year, the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival continues to evolve alongside the ever-changing film industry and expand its programming with an eye towards the future. Today the event announced the first batch of confirmed panels, workshops and Digital Domain sessions for 2013, and two all new Conference tracks including Startup Alley, a dedicated day of programming focused on startup entrepreneurs and investors, and the Come & Capture Film Factory, which explores the newest tools for capturing and creating content. The complete Conference lineup, including major featured Conversations, will be announced in early 2013.

In addition to nine full days of film screenings, SXSW Film will ultimately feature over 150 informative and entertaining featured Conversations, panels, workshops and mentor sessions. The program presents topics that cover the film spectrum, with an emphasis on the intersection of the Film and Interactive worlds. 2012 participants included creative leaders and industry experts, as well as talent like Seth MacFarlane, Lena Dunham, Joss Whedon, Mark Wahlberg, Judd Apatow and Willem Dafoe. Additionally, the Digital Domain addresses new directions in storytelling in a constantly mutating web environment, featuring web series, interactive documentaries, apps, rich media projects, data visualization and more. The South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival will take place March 8 – 16, 2013 in Austin, Texas.

“As the lines between film and technology continue to blur, SXSW Film remains ahead of the curve as we host digital creatives from across all fields. Startup Alley and the Come & Capture Film Factory are just two of the exciting new initiatives for 2013 that will capitalize on our unique environment,” said SXSW Film Conference and Festival Producer Janet Pierson. “Hands on and immersive, these new programs are designed to facilitate creative combustion affecting every facet of making, distributing, and enjoying great filmmaking.”
