FIRST LOOK FESTIVAL SHOWCASES STUDENTS’ SHORT FILMS

By Film Threat Staff | October 2, 2001

In what has become an invaluable platform for emerging Hollywood talent, the bi-annual First Look Festival will be held by the USC School of Cinema-Television October 8 through October 11 at the DGA Theatre (7920 Sunset Boulevard) at 7:30 PM, it was announced today by Larry Auerbach, Associate Dean of Student-Industry Relations and supervisor of the event. The comprehensive four-program festival, held every year in October and April, features 29 advanced short film projects. Spanning a wide range of genres, from dramas to documentaries to comedies, the films are produced by students in class workshops or as independent projects. Each program will re-screen at USC’s Norris Theatre (on the USC Campus) on October 13 and 14. All screenings are free, though reservations are recommended for the DGA screenings.
“Year after year, First Look provides a vital outlet for fresh ideas and new creative visions, while offering studio executives, agents and managers an advance look at the next generation of filmmakers” said Auerbach.
