  1. Don R. Lewis says:

Casting aside childhood memories and technological advances and looking at “A New Hope” as a film, I don’t think it holds up very well. It’ll always hold a special place in my heart because of what it’s emant to me throughout my life, but lets be honest; as a FILM, I don’t think it’s as good as “Revenge of the Sith.”

“A NEw Hope” was a trifle that didn’t even eman to set up all the tings it did. “Sith” had to wrap it ALL up. The prequels and the last 3 installments and I think it did.

I agree with Mark’s point (in the podcast) that maybe “Sith” didn’t go far enough with the darkness, but I think it handled it really well all in all. Hayden Christensen is every bit as bad an actor as Mark Hamill and then only think I like better about “A New Hope” is Han and Chewie.

    So, there 😛

  2. Chris Cirillo says:

Now granted the LOTR may have a larger fan base because it’s fans pool from both a generation where the movies didn’t exist and the books were what made it popular among fantasy readers, as well as the generations who saw the animated film (though that may have been more negative an influence than a positive one, just saying) and the generation that saw the films and didn’t read the books. Where as Star Wars draws its fans from the films solely and have had some spin offs that have done both good and ill to the generations of fans that appeared after the original three.(Including the horrible attempt at a holiday special in which Lucas has claimed to be personally ashamed off, and the upstarting clones Wars cartoons that seem to be gaining popularity among the younger generations). Sorry for this long comment, I thought I’d give my opinion on the matter.

As always enjoy listening to show, please keep it up.

  3. Chris Cirillo says:

Don are you Mad!!! The original Star Wars films revolutionized the film industry’s special effects. With out it, we’d still have the animated Lord of the Rings film. That alone merits it to be better than the LOTR trilogy.

  4. Pete says:

Don, if you think Sith is better than A New Hope, I can’t trust your opinion on any movie ever again. Ever.
