“EMPTY THREAT” DEFINED

By Pete Vonder Haar | August 4, 2006

The blowback from Mad Mel’s rant against the “f*****g Jews” (and high fructose breasts) continues:

Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo star Rob Schneider is the first actor to publicly announce he will never work with Mel Gibson due to the anti-Semitic remarks he made when he was arrested last Friday. Schneider took out an ad in Hollywood trade paper Variety slamming the star for his behavior in “An Open Letter to the Hollywood Community.” The ad appeared yesterday and said, “I, Rob Schneider, a 1/2 Jew, pledge from this day forth to never work with Mel Gibson-actor-director-producer-and anti-Semite.” Schneider then went on to say even if he were offered the lead role in Passion Of The Christ 2 or a “juicy voice-over role in his new flick Apocalypto and spoke ancient Mayan” he would still turn them down.

That sound you hear is the collective “Who gives a s**t?” muttered by a thousand studio executives.  Gibson is probably breathing a sigh of relief, as he’s now free to mingle at premiere events without fear of Schneider hitting him up to make a cameo in The Hot Chick 2: Will Work for Food.

But Scheider’s integrity is duly noted, and – speaking as a representative of the movie reviewing community at large – I can only offer my heartfelt gratitude to the man for focusing his rapier wit and mammoth Hollywood superstar influence on someone besides movie critics, who have never fully recovered from that other full-page ad he took out.

Uhh…it is funny, but I do believe it was satire. Then again, satire of that magnitude would require intellegence and comic skill…neither of which the Robinator possesses.

  2. Felix Vasquez Jr. says:

He probably needed some attention and felt compelled to voice an opinion no one gave two s***s about. His opinion on this topic matters about as much as Patrick Swayze’s.

  3. Gigi says:

That belongs in the “that’ll show ’em” files.
I guess ol’ Rob really gets himself worked up alot, and feels compelled to get it all out.

  4. Mark Bell says:

    Rob Schneider… writing memos… the memo-nator… el memo… memo: the freshmaker… man with the dead career… career-dead-olio… not-gonna-work-with-mel… the gibson-will-come-up-tomorrow…

  5. Felix Vasquez Jr. says:

Hah. Rob Schneider of all people. Like he’d ever be in a film with Gibson. Thanks for giving us feedback that no one gives a s**t about you attention w***e, now go make “Benchwarmers 2”.
