DREAMWORKS HAS “THE LOVELY BONES”

By Film Threat Staff | May 7, 2007

Sony, Warner Bros., and Universal were all vying for Peter Jackson’s long awaited next project after “King Kong.” And after the weekend long bidding war it seems DreamWorks has come out on top with 65 million dollars for Jackson’s adaptation of Alice Sebold’s bestselling 2002 book “The Lovely Bones.”

For those who are not familiar with the story. The book focuses on a 14-year-old girl who has been raped and killed and now watches over her family and her killer.

Jackson co-wrote the script with his “Lord of the Rings” collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens and filming will start in October on location both Pennsylvania and New Zealand.
