DAMES AND DOLLS AT "CINEMASIRENS"

By Film Threat Staff | July 25, 2000

For the past twenty five years film collector and historian Stuart Young has been amassing lost motion picture prints from the 1950s and 1960s starring sex symbols of that period. Scouring the world for the original theatrical versions of the features and then transferring them all to videotape, the library has grown in size and scope to the extent that Young is now making them available to the public via his company SHADOWPLAY ENTERPRISES and its new website “CINEMASIRENS.COM.”
Starring such delectable damsels of desire as Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, Jayne Mansfield, Raquel Welch, Ann-Margret, Mamie Van Doren, Claudia Cardinale, Elke Sommer and a slew of others, the films feature a virtual who’s-who of sexbombs of that period. Many of the prints are rare and unique and have not been seen since their initial releases nor made available to the consumer video market.
According to Young, “A lot of people are fascinated by the collection especially if they grew up during the years when these women were at the heights of their fame and allure. And though quite a few pictures were considered very racy during their day, by today’s standards they are almost innocent in their portrayals of sexuality. The most interesting aspect of the collection, is the fact that the appeal of the ladies themselves holds up even a after half a century .”
