Nicholas McCarthy’s “Cry for Help” is equal parts horror and comedy, telling the story of a young man, an unbalanced hippie, and the Rapture. Tiring of his recently converted Jewish father, our youthful hero goes to buy some weed from the local throwback, but things don’t go as planned, thanks to a handgun and an impromptu beef jerky operation. Throw in an obscure Biblical prophecy and the End Times suddenly get a whole lot more out of hand.
If this sounds confusing, don’t worry. If the apocalyptic results of “Cry for Help” are to be believed, you’re going to have a lot more to worry about very shortly.
