CINEQUEST MAKES YOUR VOICE HEARD

By Film Threat Staff | February 10, 2005

Cinequest is inviting its vast Internet audience to view selected feature films and short films online, then vote for three favorites in each category. Winners will become official Cinequest entries and receive coveted screening slots during Cinequest Film Festival 15.
Winners of the Viewers’ Voice competition will be announced on March 1, 2005.
Competing films were chosen from 1,777 film submissions to Cinequest 15 that achieved qualifying scores from Cinequest’s programming team.

A combination score, tallying the number of viewer downloads and ranking, will determine the winners. Over 25 feature-length and over 100 short films will be competing in the inaugural year of Viewers’ Voice Collection and Contest. No open submissions are included in the collection.

“With a significant level of extraordinary films from which to choose — a number that continues to grow exponentially every year — the programming team faced the challenge of how to incorporate more quality films into the festival,” said Halfdan Hussey, co-founder of Cinequest. “Now, through Cinequest Online, some of those high-scoring films can virtually duke it out for the last three feature slots and the last three short film slots.

“It’s another way that Cinequest is rewriting the book of what a film festival is supposed to be.”
