"CENTER OF THE WORLD" ADS REJECTED

By Film Threat Staff | April 13, 2001

Print Ads for upcoming Artisan Entertainment “Center of the World” seem to be too hot for publication. The print advertisements for “Center of the World” were rejected by most major daily newspapers across the nation (including the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times) for being too “sexually charged” or “inferring acts of sex.” Let’s be honest, they do look like ads for the the latest stroke flick playing at the local porn theater, but at least they don’t misrepresent this very sexually explicit film. The movie, directed by Wayne Wang (“Joy Luck Club”) and starring Peter Saarsgard and Molly Parker, opens April 20 in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco before going nationwide on May 4. Look for a review next week on Film Threat, but in the meantime, visit the official site for Center of the World for an even closer look at the film.
