Barbés Traveling Cinema and pbnoj productions HAVE announceD the first installment of the Brooklyn Independent Cinema Series, curated by Joe Pacheco.

The Brooklyn Independent Cinema Series will take place the first Monday of every month at Barbés in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn. Building on Traveling Cinema’s diverse selection of classic films, Brooklyn Independent will present audiences with the best in contemporary independent cinema.

Monday, December 5 @ 7 pm – FREE ^ Brooklyn Independent Cinema Series ^ Barbés – 376 9th St (at 6th Ave) – Brooklyn, NY

Late Bloomer (Short) *Official Selection – Sundance Film Festival 2005 ^ directed by Craig Macneill ^ One boy discovers that something strange is happening in Miss Lovecraft’s seventh grade sexual education class – something much darker than the normal curriculum.

Barbara Leather (Short) ^ directed by Seth Lind ^ As a pioneer craftswoman in NYC’s East Village, Barbara Shaum muses on the art of leather crafting, her first sip of ale in the city’s oldest men’s-only pub, her unique sandal designs and her pickiest client– Chiki the llama.

Unloosened and Root (Feature) *Preview Screening* ^ directed by David Dixon ^ Two story lines, one a dramatic narrative and one a documentary, run parallel then weave together to tell a single story of loss and mourning.
