ACADEMY WELCOMES “THE GREAT ZIEGFELD”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 75th Anniversary series continue with thier ninth screening next week. Next up is 1936’s “The Great Ziegfeld,” which will be shown on Monday, July 1st at 7:30 p.m. in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
The Best Song of 1936, “The Way You Look Tonight” from the film “Swing Time,” will be featured during the evening’s program. “Country Cousin,” which won the Oscar for cartoon short subject, will be presented in addition to the trailer for “The Life of Emile Zola,” the next film in the screening series. Newsreel footage of “The Great Ziegfeld’s” 1936 premiere at the Astor Theater in New York City also will be shown.
