A JOKE BOMBS…

By Rory L. Aronsky | March 5, 2006

So far, so-so.  One moment Stewart bombs, the next moment, a funny.  When Stewart was on Larry King Live this week, he showed why he’s so good at what he does.  He’s quick, he’s sharp, and he’s good for every minute if there’s a chance to be funny every minute.  He’s playing to a bigger audience, first in the Kodak Theater, bigger than the Daily Show studio. There, he can be funny every minute, he always has material.  Here, there’s occasional air that whistles through the rows of plush seats.  It’ll take more time and this Western montage works well, but hopefully he’ll be one of the hosts that you look back and think, “Slow going at the beginning, but a nice Jewish boy!” I hope he’ll successfully ingratiate himself by the end.
