2011 DALLAS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL: THE RETURN OF BIG B TO BIG D

By Mark Bell | April 1, 2011

It’s April 1st, and I refuse to believe that the 2011 Dallas Film Festival is taking place until I’m watching the end credits of my first fest film. For all I know, the flight, the hotel, the press releases, emails and other instances of “proof” that the fest is actually taking place could all be elaborate devices in a grand joke at my expense. Am I really so vain as to think anyone would go through that much trouble to get me on April Fool’s Day? Not really, but that sure would be epic, wouldn’t it…

Typing this on the plane from Philly to Dallas. Nothing hugely exciting going on. Listening to classic Soundgarden, twiddling on the iPhone.

I do want to put this idea out there, though: why do people complain about flying, myself included? Take a second to appreciate the fact that YOU’RE FLYING!!! Humans don’t have wings, we’re not supposed to be flying anywhere, and yet thousands of flights take off per day. I refuse to bitch anymore about air travel (today), because it’s hard to take flight for granted when you really ponder it.

Anywho, this likely won’t post until I land, in which case… yeah, won’t be on the plane any longer. Still, expect more updates as I go along the fest. iPhone is decked out with all the apps I need to blog at a moment’s notice, and I even bought an extra battery to keep it going.
