2008 FLORIDA FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FEATURE FILMS IN COMPETITION

By Film Threat Staff | February 22, 2008

ENZIAN has announced the line-up of films selected for the Documentary Film and Narrative Feature Film categories of the American Independent Competition for the 17th Annual Florida Film Festival, March 28 through April 6. Two world premieres and seven East Coast premieres were selected, with 15 filmmakers making their feature debut and 5 female directors are represented among the 10 narrative films and 10 documentaries.

“The scope of cinematic expression in this year’s Festival is found not simply in terms of the volume of submissions or its demographics but in the variety of types of filmmakers and the issues they explore,” said Shanon Larimer, Florida Film Festival Executive Director. “This year we are screening films that embody risk-taking, diversity, and aesthetic innovation.”

The 20 films will be eligible for up to 3 awards each; a Grand Jury award for best film in that category, a Special Jury award given at the jury’s discretion for exceptional achievements, and an Audience award, which is sponsored by JetBlue Airways and determined by audience votes.
